ORILLIA, ON, March 14, 2014 /CNW/ - Contemporary Security Canada (CSC) has been awarded the contract to provide private security services at the Pan/Parapan Am Games to be held in Ontario in 2015. The total value of the contract is $81-million.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has followed all government procurement best practices and exercised due diligence in a lengthy process used to determine the proposal that best met the private security requirements laid out in the Request for Proposal. Ultimately, CSC was selected.
Private security guards are expected to make a significant contribution to ensuring overall security at the Games, allowing the OPP-led Integrated Security Unit (ISU) to use sworn police officers where their skills and qualifications are most needed.
CSC is a subsidiary of an international security firm with headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia and is licensed to operate in Ontario. Most of the security guards hired for the Games are expected to come from Ontario and all security guards will be required to be licensed to work in private security, in the province.
The ISU is composed of security partners representing all the jurisdictions where the Games events will be held including: the OPP, the Toronto Police Service, Hamilton Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service, Peel Regional Police, York Regional Police, Niagara Regional Police Service, Halton Regional Police Service, South Simcoe Police Service and the RCMP.
